This incentive has the scope of providing assistance to enterprises investing in Industrial Research and Experimental Development to develop innovative products and solutions. Additionally Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) may also be assisted in protecting the knowledge gained from Industrial Research and Experimental Development projects. 

 

Eligibility

Projects must be approved before any work is commenced. 

Enterprises planning to carry out Industrial Research and Experimental Development project are eligible to apply for assistance under this incentive. 

 

Available Support

Through this incentive Malta Enterprise may provide assistance in the form of Tax Credits.  These tax credits may be granted on eligible costs incurred by an enterprise in running:

· Industrial Research Projects;

· Experimental Development Projects.

Additionally tax credits will also be available to SME registering intellectual property (obtaining and validating patents as well as other industrial property rights) attained through Industrial Research and Experimental Development projects.
